Private Chef
01 — Services
Rooted in caring and compassion.
My passion for cooking is rooted in caring and compassion. I love to make restorative soups for families when they catch a winter cold, just as I love planning and preparing big backyard weddings and summer celebrations. I regard preparing food as an ongoing practice in caring.
I do not currently have openings for private chef work in Chicago. I am taking inquiries for families and individuals in Los Angeles looking for a private vegan chef, and special consideration is given to full or part-time employment and to weekly and bi-weekly arrangements.
I have hundreds of recipes I’ve created in restaurants, for families, and for special diets and health requests. I’d love to have you look through some of my past inspirations, and to hear your own.
What brings you joy, what meets your nutrition goals, and what should we avoid? If you’d like to inquire, we’ll have a ten minute phone interview, I’ll develop a sample menu and handle the shopping, and we’ll cook a trial together to see whether we’re a good fit.
It’s my goal to give you an experience that’s comfortable for you and your family, with as much privacy or engagement as you wish. I love a focused solitary workday just as much as I love sharing my joy of food, answering questions, and encouraging curiosity.
Rates depend on what the work involves — shopping, preparing, serving and cleaning are different jobs — and the grocery bill is billed to you separately, at cost. Tell me what you have in mind and I’ll quote it.
I love to listen, to meet people where they are, and I love taking care of people.
02 — References
The people I cook for.
Discretion is part of the work. I don’t publish my clients’ names, their households, or anything about how they live — including the ones who have offered.
Two families I cooked for regularly wrote about the experience, and they are quoted below with their permission and without their names. If you would like to speak to a reference directly, ask me and I will arrange an introduction with someone who has agreed to it.
Kevin cooked for our family for two years, and in that time he became someone we trust completely in our home and at our table. He sources his ingredients with real care, arrives prepared, and works with a consistency we came to rely on. He is self-directed and easy to have around — attentive to our family’s rhythms and respectful of our space, yet warm and engaging when the moment calls for it.
I’m a busy guy, I like to eat healthy food, and I wanted someone who could be consistent and who I wouldn’t have to worry about. He accommodates every dietary preference at the table, often with little warning. He’s very creative, always introducing us to new ingredients and dishes. He clearly loves to cook, and really cares.
03 — Health & Wellness
Food that leaves you better than it found you.
As a vegan private chef, I am fluent in pairing culinary excellence with customized nutrition and health goals. With every session I create bespoke meal preparations tailored to your exact goals, restrictions and tastes.
I am trained and well versed in cooking for gluten free dining, kosher practices, anti-inflammatory diets, macrobiotic cooking, low-glycemic diets, low-sodium diets, and oil free cooking. Everything I make is plant based.
I am sensitive to meeting you where you are — whether you are managing a strict medical diet, experimenting with your health, or pursuing peak fitness. I take great pride in integrating your nutritional needs with excellence on the plate.
How the food makes you feel is everything.
04 — Inquiries
Let's talk about your table.
Tell me how many people, how often, and what you like to eat. Kevin's inquiry form asks the questions he needs answered to build you a sample menu; it takes a few minutes. Every inquiry is answered personally.
